Flippin' threads

Shopping online is hardly anything new. I like to think that I would have a black belt in online shopping if someone was handing those out! I also love to sell my gently worn (or sadly, more frequently never-worn) items in blog sales and on eBay. Blog sales make me slightly nervous because it really is an unregulated market and you just never know what-or who-you're dealing with! eBay is trusted and true, but I sometimes balk at the fees tacked on for using their services along with Paypal.

Enter Threadflip. A pioneering new social shopping experience (in their words). The concept is very simple. Think consignment shop. Have a gorgeous blouse or piece of jewelry that doesn't quite fit your style anymore? Need to make room in your closet for new Fall finds? Or maybe you just need a little bit of extra cash? Sell it!

I have not listed or sold anything on the site yet! I also haven't made a purchase! I was just excited to share this site with you because I saw a ton of really decent deals! I'm going to spend the afternoon browsing and possibly making a purchase or two :)

Some items that I think are worthy:

Happy shopping! (Note: Invite link!)

Five Summer Outfits

As Summer starts to wind down, I thought I would share some of my favorite looks this Season. Truthfully it pains me to look at these photos. I'm currently stuck somewhere in between longing for Fall weather and clothes (opaque tights, boots, blazers, sweaters) and grasping to hold onto the things I love about Summer (golden skin, sundresses, sandals).

Products I Love...

It's been a while since I've shown you some of the beauty products that I'm really liking. Thought I would do a quick round-up!

Smith's Rosebud Salve - link!

Oh how I love this little tube of lip heaven. Back in High School (oh, a mere 11 years ago... meep!), I read that Mary Kate Olsen used Rosebud Salve religiously. Now this was most likely read in Seventeen Magazine so the reality is, I have no idea if MK really ever used this product, but if you learn only one thing about me from reading this blog, know that MK can do no wrong in my mind.

I picked up the tin of Rosebud Salve at Sephora and loved it. As always happens, I moved on to some other lip product and Rosebud Salve was forgotten about. Until now! I love the convenient new(ish) tube packaging and it's just a great lip balm.

Korres Lip Butter / Wild Rose - link!

If you've read any beauty blogs in the last few years, you know that the Korres lip butters have a lot of fans. I've just never been interested. Perhaps it's the $12 price tag for what is basically a tinted lip balm.

All that changed when I was easily influenced by the witty, well-spoken v/blogger Estee (link!). In a recent video she mentioned that she loved using Korres and well, I must have been in a shopping mood because I went out straight-away and picked it up! Ah, never underestimate the influence of bloggers.

Love the pinky-red stain this product leaves on my lips. Hate the messy packaging. I suppose I should have cleaned up the rim of the product, but life isn't always perfect and neither is my lip balm!

Essie Good To Go Rapid Top Coat - link!

Oh my Gosh, you guys. I don't even know how to properly express my love for this nail product. Forget about Seche Vite and it's thick, goopy formula. Essie Good to Go is a magical top coat that dries your nail polish in seconds. Seriously. For $8, you can paint your nails at 11PM and be snuggled in bed at 11:30pm and you will NOT GET BED MARKS ON YOUR NAILS.

I find myself painting my nails more often because it takes less than 30 minutes to paint and dry. I can watch an episode of House Hunters whilst doing my nails and when it's over, my nails are perfect. GUYS, come on.

Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Concealer / SC-3 - link!

This concealer duo is creamy, smooth and really does the job. I won't gush about it, but will only say that I really enjoy using it and am happy to stick with this product for a while!

L'oreal Telescopic Mascara - link!

I rarely buy the same mascara twice. It's not that I'm in search of a holy grail (hate that term) mascara that will forever change my life (or at least my lashes). I just like trying new mascaras! I can't for the life of me remember who influenced this purchase, but yay! Insert happy mascara dance.

Some will say this wand is flimsy. Can't argue there. But the tiny brush! Look how cute! This will not give you voluminous lashes. Not in the slightest. It will give your lashes length and coat them so nicely and evenly. It is also fab for easily putting mascara on your bottom lashes.

Don't buy this product if you want Kim Kardashian lashes. This is for the more natural gal.

Urban Decay Naked Palette - link!

An ode to Sin. I use you almost everyday. You are slightly shimmery, but not in that obnoxious glittery mess of way like Sidecar. You are neutral enough to get me through my day under bright office lights, yet can easily move me into the night when paired with a deeper shade. I fear the day that I will hit pan on you. Will the UD Naked Palette be useless to me once you have disappeared? Perhaps. I will continue to enjoy your neutral-pinky-beige-champagne-goodness until that day comes.

Sephora Mineral Powder Brush - link!

I have been on the hunt for a new liquid foundation brush. My beloved Kirkland (for Costco) brush has started to shed after 3 years of daily use - I kid you not, I used that brush every single damn day.

I am (still) tempted to buy the Real Techniques brushes - the price is right, and I love supporting YouTubers (they were created by a Pixiwoo goddess) - yet I don't have an Ulta in my area so that purchase must wait.

Enter Sephora. This brush is tightly packed and has just the right softness for a face brush. I really have nothing bad to say except maybe I wish it had been slightly cheaper. I feel like a bit of an ass paying over $25 for something Sephora branded.

The Elusive White Dress

For what seems like forever (slight exaggeration), I have been on the hunt for a white, lace dress. I've had to suffer watching cute girls on the streets of NYC, sauntering about in their adorable dresses, while I'm left cursing whatever dress I've got on that I promptly label as hideous in comparison.

It's not that I couldn't find white, lace dresses in stores. They are pretty plentiful. Forever 21 and H&M seem to have cornered the market on these. The big problem is in fact a sizing issue. White, lace dresses are notoriously short. As they should be - they just look all the more adorable when they are mini! Unfortunately I've been cursed with being 5'7. Damn you genetics!! While I quite like being 5'7 on a normal day, I'm not interested in showing my bum off in one of these white, lace dresses.

Enter Target. The mecca of cheap inexpensive housewares, beauty products, shoes and clothing. I wasn't specifically looking for it. But there it was. In the Junior's/Contemporary section which I sheepishly still shop in (I CAN'T QUIT YOU, JUNIORS).

A white lace dress that practically grazes my knees! Cue the choir! I actually purchased the dress in a Size Large in the hopes that the dress would be more of a shift-style-with-a-60s-mod-feel rather than a fitted-tacky-style.

I think it works! I've paired it with brown/cognac/gold accessories. A winner!

If you noticed, the mess behind me in theses photos is most definitely a hotel room. I took an extended weekend vacation down to Wilmington, North Carolina. It was beautiful! You might recognize Wilmington as the filming location of Dawson's Creek (a fav of mine!), One Tree Hill and hundreds of movies (A Walk to Remember, etc.).

It's a quaint town with so much charm. I also ate my weight in biscuits, grits, and seafood.

Insert photo of the World's Greatest Eggs (as crowned by me and my sister) - Dixie Grill in Wilmington, NC.

Did you see how I snuck in my new Coach bag?
Another post to come with details :)

Celebrity Style Obsession

Every so often I have a new celebrity style crush. I oohh-and-aahh over creepy paparazzi photos of the subject until I'm slightly embarrassed by my fawning.

Recently, Katie Holmes has been in the news. I can't for the life of me remember why (kidding). Ms. Holmes is someone whom I've never really loved... liked, yes.

I am a 100% crazy Dawson's Creek fan. I'm currently re-watching the series for the umpteenth time. Season 3 through Season 4 are absolutely stellar television. I mean, Pacey Whitter & Joey Potter... do I really need to say more? Joshua Jackson is perfection.

I think I've gone on a bit of a teeny-bopper tangent! Forgive me! Back to style.

Ms. Holmes has been sporting the cutest tan ankle booties with just about everything. I can't wait to get my hands on a pair of those for the Fall. I am not quite sure how she's managing to sport so many pairs of jeans in this NYC weather. I can barely stand to wear clothes at all in NYC - it is that hot and sticky!

Also, her hair is looking so damn enviable right now. Long, straight and shiny -- to die for! Spoken like a true frizzy/curly girl.

Happy little handbag!

Coach is one of those brands that has experienced a dramatic shift over the last few years. No longer are the bags riddled with the now-dated-looking-monograms. The designs are more modern and the Coach logos are more subtle... and more my taste!

The Madison handbag collection is really dreamy. Soft leather and slouchy designs are all the rage on the Coach website, and I've fallen for them once again!

The latest handbag to join my growing collection:
Coach Madison Leather Lindsey Satchel (link!)

The vibrant fuchsia with silver hardware is certainly unlike anything else I own. This is not a handbag that you can hide. I've worn it proudly the last few days and it definitely elicits a few comments (positive ones!) and stares. I am a happy lady since this has made it's way into my closet :)

I really have to thank the lovely people over at LookTv for this bag. They held a contest on their YouTube page, and I was one of the 3 winners! Check out their channel for some really fab content!

-me and my sister have a few items up on ebay, if you're in the mood to shop. we'll be adding more soon as well! (link!)

I'm Missing You like Candy

It's no secret that I have a perfume addiction. I can't get enough. Prada fragrances will always hold a special place in my heart. On a recent walk to work, I took a "short-cut" through Macy's Herald Square and found myself in the perfume section. It happens more often than I'd like to admit.

A free gift with purchase of a Prada fragrance? Well, don't mind if I do.
Prada Candy, one of their latest fragrance offerings was calling my name. I bought the set, which comes with a generous sample bottle, a full size Candy lotion, and the 2.7oz Candy Eau de Parfum. A nice, obnoxiously hot pink cosmetics bag was a free bonus.

For lack of a better description, this stuff is like candy in a bottle. But a slightly snooty candy in a really fancy glass bottle.
I mean, this is Prada, girl.

For whatever unknown reason, Macy's doesn't have Prada Candy available on their website.
I will link you to Nordstrom instead.
You lose this time, Macy's. But you know I'll be back in the maze of Herald Square next week before work.
You saucy little minx, you.

If you've been missing my blog posts:
1. thank you!
2. your life makes me a little sad
3. I missed you too!
4. I've been posting videos like crazy on YouTube, so please find me there!
5. there is no five... I just can't believe you're still reading this post

Five Outfits in One Post!

I've been wearing a lot of neutrals lately. GASP, I know! I can't help it. My color palette really consists only of black, white, grey, brown, gold and silver.

I swear that I'm really fun despite my color limits. Maybe it's an urban thing? Concrete jungle where dreams are made of? I'm going to blame living & working in a metropolitan area. Hell, I blame all of New York City for my neutral obsession.

Here are some of my recent favorite looks!
I know what you're thinking... they're all cell phone shots. My tripod is still packed away as I'm currently in between homes at the moment. Please overlook the poor photo quality and focus on the pretty things! :)
